Tehama County supervisors on Tuesday morning will hear an informational presentation from the county counsel’s office and its role within the county government.
It will come at the end of a relatively short agenda for the supervisors.
County Counsel Margaret Long will present to the supervisors, some of whom have broached the idea of hiring an in-house counsel.
Some public members have expressed concerns about Long’s role within the county. Soon after her presentation is scheduled, the board will go into a closed session. One of the topics discussed behind closed doors will be an employee performance evaluation of the county counsel’s position.
But before supervisors can settle in for the presentation, county librarian Alicia Meyer will ask them to approve an application for a stay-and-play grant from the California State Library.
It is a $4.500 grant, and if awarded, it would increase revenue but, according to the agenda, have zero impact on the expense budget as the county has already been budgeting for staff time, professional development, and programming supplies.
According to the agenda, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation began funding programming in 2016 to help public libraries support family, friends, and neighbor child care providers. As a result of cooperation with the California State Library, the program was piloted and formally evaluated by five additional public libraries, which resulted in the current opportunity to apply to the Stay & Play program.
According to the agenda, if awarded the grant, the library will get $4500 to spend on relevant professional development and program expenses and benefit from using the program. The library must have two to three staff members attend online professional development, hold two 6-8 week Stay & Play program series, and measure program outcomes.
Sheriff Dave Kain will then ask supervisors to prove and authorize an agreement with Reach Air Medical Services for providing air medical transport to an individual in custody. According to Kain, air transport became medically necessary for an incarcerated individual located in the Tehama County Jail in February,
The agreement will cost the county $84,491 and comes out of the Jail Health budget.
Soon after that decision is made, the supervisor will hear from Long. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at 727 Oak Street in Red Bluff.
