David Linthicum’s attorneys seek time to review evidence, obtain reports into past police dealings

There could be a delay in a high-profile trial after attorneys on Monday brought up a series of issues in the David Linthicum case. Linthicum was the 24-year-old subject of a dayslong manhunt that shut down schools and a suspect in the shootings of two Baltimore County police officers in February. Linthicum was captured in Fallston and charged with attempted first-degree murder and carjacking.In April, a judge rejected home detention for Linthicum, saying the risk to the community was too high to allow home detention, even with mental health treatments.In court on Monday, Linthicum’s attorneys updated the judge on where they stand with getting discovery evidence from the state. They’re asking for several records regarding the investigation, as well as for reports connected to two past cases the Baltimore County Police Department handled involving people in emotional distress. One of those cases involved Korryn Gaines, who was shot and killed by Baltimore County police Officer Royce Ruby during a standoff in her apartment in 2016.Linthicum’s attorney, Deborah Levi, said the process has taken so long that they are going to have to ask to delay the November trial date.A new hearing to address that and other matters is scheduled for next month.| VIDEO BELOW: Police shooting, barricade suspect waives bail review
