One week to the day after Alex Murdaugh was found guilty of murdering his wife and son, an appeal has been filed in the case.
The disbarred attorney was convicted March 2 by a jury in Colleton County, South Carolina, for the killings of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh. The two were found shot to death on the family’s nearly 1,800-acre property in June 2021.

On March 3, Judge Clifton Newman sentenced Murdaugh to two consecutive life sentences, one for each of the two murders.
On Thursday, Murdaugh’s attorneys filed an appeal in Colleton County court.
In a tweet, Dick Harpootlian wrote, “Today @lawyergriffin (Jim Griffin) and I filed our notice of appeal for Alex Murdaugh. This is the next step in the legal process to fight for Alex’s constitutional right to a fair trial.”
