The law firm that sprouted from a Lewis Brisbois mass exodus is effectively marking the end of its operation, as at least another 25 attorneys from there joined O’Hagan Meyer.
The group fleeing Daugherty Lordan includes founding partners Kate Den Bleyker and John Haubrich, O’Hagan Meyer said in a Wednesday statement. The lawyers follow an earlier wave of Daugherty Lordan attorneys who joined O’Hagan Meyer, including name partner Joseph Lordan.
Daugherty Lordan, formerly named Barber Ranen, launched in May following an exodus of nearly 140 attorneys from the labor and employment practice at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith. The new firm pushed out its leaders, Jeff Ranen and John Barber, weeks later, after Lewis Brisbois released a tranche of their racist, sexist, antisemitic and anti-LGBTQ+ emails to media outlets.
Barber Ranen on June 7 rebranded itself as Daugherty Lordan and tapped Lordan and partner Melissa Daugherty as its new leaders. But in the ensuing weeks, dozens of attorneys left for firms including Ogletree Deakins, Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani and Dinsmore & Shohl.
Daugherty Lordan is finalizing collections as the last remaining attorneys leave, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Daugherty Lordan CEO Tim Graves and a firm spokesman did not respond to requests for comment. O’Hagan Meyer partners Kevin O’Hagan and Charles Meyer did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Lewis Brisbois declined to comment.
The latest group to join O’Hagan Meyer includes more than a dozen California-based Daugherty Lordan partners and a group of associates.
