Hennepin County attorney Mary Moriarty announced today that two adults have been charged in connection with the shooting of a plain-clothed Minneapolis Police Department officer driving an unmarked vehicle on August 11. The Hennepin County attorney’s Office today charged Frederick Leon Davis, 19, with one count of attempted second-degree murder (27-CR-23-17238) and Nevaeh Lee Page, 20, with one count of aiding an offender – accomplice after the fact (27-CR-23-17237). The case remains under investigation, with forensic testing of the crime scene, the suspect vehicle, and two recovered firearms pending. The two charged individuals will make their first court appearances tomorrow afternoon.
“We experienced a disturbing level of gun violence over the weekend. The danger that comes with all gun violence is intensified when firearms are modified to make them fully automatic, as occurred in this attack,” Hennepin County attorney Mary Moriarty said. “Our office will continue to prioritize prosecution of this type of violence, to bring justice for victims and their families, and to get these dangerous weapons off the street.
“I am grateful the injured officer is on the road to recovery. As we begin the prosecution of these two individuals we will continue to work closely with law enforcement on the investigation to ensure all involved are held accountable.”
