BOSTON — A Worcester-based attorney with experience representing children and parents in Juvenile Court proceedings could soon join that court as a judge.
Gov. Maura Healey on Wednesday nominated Jennifer Currie, who lives in Harvard, citing her considerable experience representing Worcester County clients involved with the Juvenile Court and the Department of Children and Families.
The Governor’s Council, which will vet Currie’s nomination, scheduled a Jan. 17 confirmation hearing to hear from the nominee, her supporters and anyone who wishes to oppose her nomination.
Currie has worked at Ricciardi & Ricciardi since 2007, and has also worked with the Committee for Public Counsel Services since 2008, including serving as the Worcester Juvenile Court Supervising attorney for the past four years.
Currie earned her bachelor’s degree from Providence College in 2003 and her law degree from Suffolk University Law School in 2007. According to her LinkedIn, she was a law clerk at the state Department of Industrial Accidents during the years that she attended Suffolk Law.
“Throughout her career, attorney Currie has proven herself to be a compassionate attorney who understands the ins and outs of the Juvenile Court and how to best support all parties involved,” Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll said in a statement paired with news of her nomination.
