Riverside County Ambulance Attendant Admits Groping Teen Patient

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A 24-year-old ambulance attendant from Riverside County who groped and solicited sex from a teenage girl being transported to a hospital pleaded guilty Wednesday to felony charges.

Jason Dean Anderson of Wildomar admitted two counts of sexual battery on a restrained person for the purpose of arousal under a plea agreement with the Riverside County District attorney‘s Office. In exchange for his admissions, prosecutors agreed to drop charges of sexual penetration with a foreign object against Anderson.

The plea deal was announced just as the emergency medical technician’s case was called for a preliminary hearing at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta. Superior Court Judge John Monterosso scheduled a sentencing hearing for March 28.

The proposed term of imprisonment is two years, and Anderson would have to register as a sex offender with the state as one of the conditions of his parole.

The defendant remains free on a $75,000 bond pending sentencing.

According to sheriff’s officials, on the afternoon of March 25, 2022, he was riding in the back of an American Medical Response ambulance with the teen, whose identity was not disclosed, being taken to a medical facility from somewhere in the southwest county region.

It was not disclosed why she was in need of medical attention.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Frank Tiburzio said that during the ride, Anderson assaulted the girl, seeking sex acts from her inside the vehicle.

The victim reported the assault soon afterward, but it was unclear whether she conveyed what happened to family members or contacted authorities after reaching the hospital.

Deputies arrested Anderson later that same day at his residence in the 34300 block of Tanisha Court.

AMR released a statement the following week, saying the defendant had been suspended and that an “internal investigation” was immediately initiated after his supervisors had been informed of the incident.

AMR did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding Anderson’s post-conviction employment status, including whether he remains on indefinite suspension or had been terminated and when.

The defendant had no documented prior felony convictions.
